Plain and simple, this is One Of Those Days.
I got home at midnight to the power being out; planned outage, for good cause to make the system more durable in winter storms. Still not fun to have power out.
Went to bed in the dark. Woke up at 8:15 to phone ringing; had problem at work I had to come in to resolve. Came in, went home, got home around 9:30.
Had to bring car in for oil change, then Brian was taking me over to a doctor's appointment. Doctor was late. When we went to leave to get some lunch before work, car wouldn't start. (click click click).
So we called Mom for a ride and figured we'd walk over to Jack in the Box to get that lunch (it's only a block).
Only (and this is where it starts getting comedic) - Jack in the Box was closed, for some kind of technical difficulty.
So now I'm at work, still swamped under by things and people wanting to know why and what and where that I don't necessarily know, Brian and I are temporarily down to no cars, getting his car fixed may be expensive, and I'm subsisting on cheap housebrand beef jerky since I can't go anywhere to get some food. Fortunately, it's only about half a mile to the place where my car's getting worked over, and I can walk over to pick it up if needed.
And life goes on.
