Leti says "I didn't post logs yet. >_< Because I am lazy. But, after the fight, the folks downstairs (now everyone except Yoru and Rhan) chatted a few minutes, then Rhan appeared at the door, saying Yoru 'vanished' but not clarifying whether that's literally or just wandered off to a bar."

Leti says "Then they chatted some more and headed back to the ship - those who aren't running for fear of Anathema. :p"

Yoru says "Mkay. Sounds good."

Yoru would not have vanished in front of Rhan or even to get away from him unless there was a known threat nearby. No need to waste essence.

Leti says "As for Yoru... As Yoru and Rhan come around the front of the building, Rhan slightly ahead, ...give me an Awa+Per roll? ^^"

Yoru would probably have left him near the front of the building and said 'Go in there, Nai Kan is there' and then slipped away when his back was turned.

Leti ponders and nods. "There is a bone-white ...figure. Blurry, indistinct, but ...probably human? standing on the flat roof of the building across the narrow side street. The form and height are uncertain due to flowing robes that make it impossible determine proportions. Whatever it is, it is watching Yoru and Rhan."

Yoru pats Rhan on the shoulder and gives him a nudge towards the front of the building. "Nai Kan should be waiting in there for you. Go on in. And try to keep yourself out of trouble, kid." He says that with a smile and a light hearted tinge to his voice. No need to worry him about the odd figure on the roof. The moment Rhan's back is turned Yoru wraps some of his personal essence and races up the wall as if he were running across a moonlit meadow.

The figure's attention apparently stays on Yoru as Rhan heads for the warehouse; as he reaches the door, Rhan looks back over his shoulder and blinks at the now empty street.

Leti notes that if you want to stunt such things for Essence back, it might not be a bad idea.

Leti says "I will, in fact, give you two Essence back for the wall climbing as above."

Yoru splits his attention between Rhan and the apparition as long as Rhan is in the street. Once the boy is safe he'll turn his full attention to this mysterious individual and see if the other will break the silence first.

The figure stands silent as Rhan enters the warehouse; Allen can be seen at the door briefly as the mortal boy enters. When the two have vanished into the building, the figure lifts a hand; the robes slip back from the wrist, and the hand thus revealed is as white as the bone-white fabric which drapes it, and slightly translucent. Its voice, when it speaks, is clear, and deep enough to be most likely male. "Yoru of the Sublime Vengeance," he says. "You who are the eyes of the Sun in Night - why are you here when your sister walks in darkness alone?"

Yoru looks at the extended hand for a moment before trying to peer into the hood, curious and worried at what might lie within. "I help my circle rescue a friend as we search this town for direction to help answer dreams and heal our sister." He takes a step back and holds a hand to his heart. "I pray you, apparition, are not an emissary of ill tidings for our sister."

Beneath the figure's hood is a blank faceplate or mask as white as the robe shrouding it - and of that even, Yoru can only see slivers beneath the cowl. It does not, however, muffle his voice. "Ill tidings would come late - ill has already overtaken her." The raised hand falls abruptly. "Better she should die than be swallowed completely."

<<OOC>> Leti says "Not a chance."

<<OOC>> Leti says "It sounds like a human male. That's not saying a lot, though. ^^; I should note that even with you focusing on it, it's blurry and hard to see as if Essence is concealing it."

"Is there nothing that can be done to save my sister?" Says Yoru with a touch of urgency in his voice. "Have you knowledge that could aid us in such a thing? Or are you here merely to torment me with thoughts of her falling?" Near the end his words are nearly flaring with anger.

"I know the name of the shadow that lies over her." The figure crosses its arms over its chest. "She may be returned to the light through its ending or hers."

"And why would you help me in her recovery?" asks Yoru. "Why would I trust such a shadowy figure if you told me such things?"

<<OOC>> Yoru says "This from a shadowy figure. :D"

With the same perfectly calm tone, the figure answers, "I did not say I would help you. I will bring her ending, if it is necessary to keep her shard from falling into darkness. It is for you to seek another way."

<<OOC>> Leti says "Don't you know, these mysterious veiled figures are never really helpful. ;)"

Yoru tilts his head as he studies the shadowy figure. "So you will keep the name of this shadow that lies over her to yourself and then taunt me with threats of her death." He hmphs audibly. "Why are you even here."

"You should be grateful," the unknown being says, "That I do not leave that task for you; is it not your duty to bring death, Yoru of the Sublime Vengeance, in the darkness? You should be grateful, that I stay my hand and risk the shadow enveloping her shard, that you might find another way. Can you compel me to give you anything more than a breath of space and a hope of a different end?" There's a challenging note to its voice.

"We already have a hope of a different end, though we know not the way," comments Yoru, calming down. Being calm when the other loses theirs can be an asset. "You have offered nothing other than a threat on the life of our sister and a hint at a name that could help us which you will not give. You are a waste of time." He turns as if to leave.

As Yoru turns, the glint of metal - strangely dull, but still with more color than the bone-white robes shrouding the figure - catches his eye as the figure's pallid hands grasp daggers from somewhere in the folds of cloth. "You do not know the way and you lack the resolution to find it. Perhaps I am too generous by staying my blade."

Yoru's hand goes to his chains as he pauses and glances over his shoulder. "And you waste my time when I could be searching for a way to save my sister." A second's pause and he adds, "And should you attempt to harm my sister before we have done all we can for her, know that nothing will keep you safe from me."

<<OOC>> Yoru gets the feeling this guy is a masochist and wants me to beat the info out of him.

The figure laughs. "You would do more to revenge her than to save her. Truly, you are well named. Know this, Iron Wolf: There will be no attempt. There will only be an end." The figure steps forward, then easily leaps - not just clearing the gap between buildings, but Yoru as well, landing in front of him; his movement is preternaturally swift, far beyond mortal capabilities, and as he moves, the white robes make him hard to even see - even after he lands it takes a moment to really determine where he is - and as he turns back towards Yoru, he gestures, a strange symbol flaring to life on his forehead - the sign of the House of Endings, one of the divisions of the night sky important to astrologers. "You do not yet understand the threat. But you will." If he says anything else, it's lost; as the Essence he spent takes hold, his form becomes confused and hard to focus on, the words jumbled, as if perceptions are distorted.

<<OOC>> Leti says "You don't necessarily know why someone would have it show up on their forehead, but you do recognize the astrological symbol, yes."

Yoru peers at the distortion as long as he can and growls. "Damn stranger. Did you want me to try and beat it out of you?" He hmphs with disdain at the odd encounter.

<<OOC>> Leti says "I'm about to make people roll init. :p Do you want to put up any Charms before your first turn? I'm willing consider your Form charm still up, though it properly should be a new scene."

<<OOC>> Yoru says "Well if Ebon Shadow is still up, I'll have to reactivate Hidden Death. And I shall pose it."

"So be it," grumbles Yoru. His feet slide backwards as the shadows lick at his form, working to conceal his movements. With a flick of his wrists the lightning chains uncoil and lay at the ground at his side as he uses more essence to further wrap light and shadow about his body. He flickers and works his own tricks with invisibility. Two can play at this game.

From his low stance Yoru's legs tense and then the Night springs forward. His chains leap from the ground and arc through the air towards the blurry figure. Would the light be able to touch them light would shine from links. The chain lashes down as Yoru touches ground and lash out once again as the Night hops to the side. His weapon whirls above his head as he spins around and lashes out once more at the annoying figure of mist.

'Like mist' is accurate; indistinct as his form is, the stranger blurs around the blows, the chain lashing only air in its angry flight. Preternaturally swift, he returns the blows with one of his own, pale arm beneath bone-white robes striking out with the strange, dull knife - the other remaining close and guarding.

Shadows greet the Night like an old lover as Yoru lets his essence guide his movements away from the attack. The only sign of surprise that he has to resort to such a tactic is a slight widening of his eyes.

Yoru turns his last essence twisting dodge into a roll as he keeps an eye, or tries to, on the annoying target before him. Coming to a stop he leaps towards the man only to hop backwards and to the side and then a jump backwards as he lashes out with one strike at the hard to see target. "Are we having fun yet," he jests.

The Night's blow is fierce, but his challenger is not unprepared; the hand and dagger that remained back in the last attack now move forward, with wide guard designed to catch and turn blows; even as he is attacked, he steps forward across the flat roof, ducking under his own guarding arm and turning as he slashes low across Yoru's body with the other; the only distinct part of him is the purple glowing mark on his forehead which leaves a streak across Yoru's vision. Any Essence he spends is only from his personal reserves, with no evidence to Yoru's eyes.

Yoru continues to take solace in the shadows that hide him from his attacker. But the problem remains that his opponent remains hard to hit. "You continue to be a waste of time and offer no help, only a delay in the help my friend receives." Yes, it is a statement of the obvious, but the man is annoying. With but a thought and a twist of his wrist his chain shortens and clinks on the rooftop. "Have you a point," he asks. "If not begone and let me search for answers without your interference." To emphasize the point he whips the chain up to spear out at the man, not expecting it to hit but trying nonetheless.

Again, Yoru doesn't even come close; while any words are lost to the sensory distortion that makes it so hard to track his opponent, Yoru can clearly hear a disdainful snort at his demands. Again, the cowled man strikes out with the dagger with the same blurry speed, the blazing mark on his forehead cutting the fog as he drives closer.

Yoru growls as the mysterious man continues to be an annoyance. Tapping into the essence the permeates the world he lets their flow guide his movements away from the attack with grace. "Shall we continue to waste our essence in this dance?" He says with an unseen smirk. And indeed he twirls away from the barely seen attacker, stopping at the edge of the roof and leaping away towards the center. As he flies through the air he lashes out with his chains once more, goading his assailant into wasting more essence. He of course uses none on his attacks.

Yoru's chains seek, but can not find the white blurred ghostly figure; as Yoru leaps, so too does he, and no sooner does the Night land than the unknown martial artists flips over the Night's head, striking down with his daggers as the purple blaze of his Essence-lit mark soars overhead - for a moment, practically flying.

Yoru's mind races as he notices how little essence he has remaining. Ending this fight won't be possible if he can't hit the annoyance, and he can't evade forever. He gets an idea and grins. "Catch me if you can," he says as he races for the edge and drops down to the street below. The moment he comes to a halt on the ground he becomes as still as a statue and as invisible as the air.

<<OOC>> Leti says "However, this is obviously the optimal moment to have the rest of the Circle walk out of the warehouse."

<<OOC>> Yoru's count on his Essence is way too low to continue the fight, so I felt I needed to end it.

<<OOC>> Yoru says "Because I can't say anything or do anything without breaking the Charm."

The unknown attacker has no trouble keeping up with Yoru to the edge of the roof - if anything, he seems to be holding back, mockingly, but he does not follow Yoru off the roof, and just as Yoru's Charm takes effect on the ground, the door of the warehouse opens, and the rest of Yoru's Circle, the unknown old man (now wearing an orichalcum breastplate), Nai Kan, and Rhan walk out and walk down back towards the main street.

Leti [to Yoru]: First thing is that Hidden Death will only last 5 minutes max. So if you're going to wait longer than that... your immunity to other forms of detection than sight will begin failing. (Since your MA Form is already held over, it should probably fail about then, too.)

Leti says "Mind, as long as you don't move, you will remain invisible!"

Yoru says "Yoru will only stay there a minute and then head towards the boat, stealthily until he figures he isn't being tailed."

Leti says "I think I'd like an Awa+Per roll from Yoru to see if he has any ability to tell for sure whether Mr. Hey, I'm Hard To See Too is still lurking around waiting or not, at some point; depending on that roll and what Yoru does, we might actually be all done with the scene."

Leti says "No, that's fine."

Yoru says "Just a minute or so. Then stealth another minute or so, and then take off."

Yoru says "So basically 2-3 minutes total of slow and then break into a run."

Leti tries to find running speeds in 1e.

Leti says "Okay, in Power Combat, a dash sort of action which takes the full action can go up to Dex * 3 + 20 yards per turn."

Leti says "One presumes you want to run back to the ship. It's not miles, but it IS a few turns."

Yoru nods and would like to, just in case.

Yoru hopes he didn't screw up your plans too much with how Yoru reacted.

Leti says "No, no, not at all!"

Yoru says "Mkay then."

Leti says "It was totally unexpected. Honestly, I did not expect Yoru to be able to end the fight. But he did, and that is perfectly cool. :) I am all for PCs being better at things than I expected. :p"

Leti says "'Kay, so now Yoru has 32 yards per tick."

Yoru says "Ah, so you expected Yoru to bleed, eh? :D"

Leti says "Yep."

Yoru chuckles.

Yoru says "My other idea was to use Image of Death Technique. I'll have to save that for another time."

Leti says "He should have, actually, on the one dodge where you didn't use the perfect, but I forgot to apply the difficulty."

Leti cackles.

Leti says "YOU HAVE NO IDEA."

Leti says "I wonder how far you all ARE from the dock. Hrm."

Yoru shifty-eyes and uh-ohs.

Leti wonders how good Google's calculator is, as she tosses in a variety of different units.

Leti says "Cool. It's very good."

Leti says "Okay. At a full out sprint, it's going to take Yoru about 3 minutes to get back to the dock. I'm going to say a total of 5 minutes?"

Yoru says "Okay. Think he'll pass any of the others on the way?"

Yoru says "Or is that where we'll pick up Saturday?"

Leti says "And yes, he will pass the others."

Leti says "Which causes a bit of complication, because he wasn't there when they got there last week."

Leti says "But we can assume he was in Shai's cabin and none of the mortal sailors saw him enter, so they don't know he's there, and when Allen comes up to sit with Shai, Yoru will go down and join them."

Leti says "MEANWHILE Mr. Also-Invisible is doing ...something. Which I am not going to tell you."

Yoru hmphs.

Leti says "But Yoru will return to find a live Shai. :p If, you know, effectively dead to the world. :p And death tainted. And apparently a ticking time bomb unless Mr. Pallid there was lying or something. :p"

Yoru says "Like Yoru said to Mr. Pallid. That's nothing we didn't already know."

Leti says "Well, now you know you can cure her by killing her? ^^"

Leti says "...Maybe."

Leti says "Unless he was lying about that. :p OR didn't know for sure."

Leti snrks quietly.

Yoru says "Yoru didn't get that impression. He got the impression that killing her would keep her 'shard' from being corrupted, probably because she'd be, you know, DEAD!"

Leti says "Well, that seemed to be close enough for Mr. Pallid. ;)"

Leti says "Now I really need to get logs up."

Yoru says "Bastardo!"

Yoru grins.

Yoru wonders if he'd have a better idea about Mr. Pallid if he had read more Exalted books.
