too much. "I was hoping we might have a chat about ... earlier." He keeps a calm voice when talking to Yasutora, which while not comforting is better than nothing.

Yasutora errs, again, and shuffles slightly. "Um. Yes. That might, er, be important," he agrees, and strains his neck to either side, popping the joints in his personal awkwardness. "Um, well, there's this... thing."

Green Cove pages: Did I miss an Allen pose, or is she just RL-interrupted at the moment?

"I hadn't - Yasutora has, I think?" Allen shakes his head. "I don't know the details - we've spoken, but not so much about our pasts. Only what has been necessary."

Yoru does notice Yasutora's uneasiness and lets it brew a moment. "Would you care to have a seat while we talk? In the cabin, galley, or somewhere else maybe? Sounds like this might be something best said off one's feet."

"Oh." Green Cove is silent for a moment. "You should start with fish," she says, finally. "Even if it's river fish. Or eels, if you can catch any. Hard to go wrong with eels, if you know how to gut them properly. But stay away from the clams. Not that it's easy to gather clams from a moving ship, but you don't want those for someone whose stomach might not be used to such things."

Yasutora winces quietly. "Please?" he asks the older Exalt quietly. "I... do not feel very comfortable with this. It is an unpleasant Thing."

Yoru finally reaches up to pat Yasutora. "I know all about unpleasant things. Let's go have a bite to eat or a drink while you tell me about this one." He'll lead the big boy to the galley if he won't go willingly.

Yasutora 's face breaks into a hesitant smile. Food.

Yasutora nods to Yoru and follows the Night towards the galley.

Allen . . . chuckles. "Thank you for the advice, Green Cove," he says. "Perhaps I can teach him how to fish? . . . though that would require more familiarity with it myself, I think."

Yoru will sit down with some non-alcoholic drink and a small bite to eat and wait for Yasutora to be ready to share this unpleasant Thing.

<<OOC>> Leti notes, of course, that there's no real privacy on the ship; the closest you could come would be the cabin Yoru shares with Allen or Yasutora shares with TRW, but, of course, they're to either side of the cabin that the DB is currently in and how /sound proof/ they are...

<<OOC>> Leti says "Don't let GC try to teach him how to fish!"

<<OOC>> Leti says "She'll be all "And then you walk out on the water...""

<<OOC>> Yasutora says ""Sploosh.""

"Fishing is easy," Green Cove says, in a deeply serious tone, because this is, after all, serious business. "You stick your hand in--" She pauses, and frowns. "No, that doesn't work for everyone. Start by getting him a barbed spear. You need the barb, or the fish will fall off after you stab it."

<<OOC>> Green Cove snerks. Yeah, was...pretty much going there.

Yasutora gets as much food as he can carry without looking TOO greedy, and begins to munch on it. When he's devoured and destroyed much of the meal, he begins to slowly talk. "You know that our shards contain the soul-memories of ourselves, yes?" he asks quietly.

Yoru nods slowly, having only nibbled at his small portion of food. "I have come to know that, yes."

<<OOC>> Green Cove says "One of these days, someone is going to try to have an actual deep, philosophic debate with Green Cove, and it'll end up as a conversation about fishhooks or something."

<<OOC>> Yoru says "And that's different than a normal talk with Green Cove how? :p"

Yasutora coughs, and sighs and kicks the table lightly, squirming in the too-small space between the bench and table. "I, well..." He sighs again. "My soul-memories are ... unpleasant. And very, very strong."

<<OOC>> Green Cove says "Exactly my point!"

"But would that work well from a moving boat?" Allen tilts his head curiously.

Yoru reaches out to pat the boy's arm sympathetically. "That must be rough. I have my nightmares of this life to deal with, I am not sure how well I would deal with past lives too... but... what does this have to do with how you acted towards Shai? You seemed more willing to kill her than help her from your choice of words."

"Moving boats use nets," Green Cove explains, "or go out to check traps and lines that were set up the day before. But that's too much work for one person alone, except with a very small boat and a small net. A single fisher will find his best work to be in standing on a shadowed bank, watching for movement, with a barbed spear in hand. There are also hooks and lines, but these require more time, if less skill. For very large fish, such as whales and giant eels, you can throw harpoons attached to firm lines from the deck of a sturdy hunting ship, but this is certainly no job for a single fisher."

<<OOC>> Green Cove ...sighs. Her PC is actually /really enthused/ to give this information to an interested party.

<<OOC>> Allen giggles.

Yasutora sighs quietly. "Not... kill. Correct. My other self was a priest and ascetic. He had no time for the suffering of others and their desires-- only the cold, hard march to purity. He even despised burning save as a last resort, finding it too messy, even as an extention of his Anima. All was Good and Pure-- or was to be PUrified.

"We may need to just go with lines," Allen says thoughtfully. "Since I'm not skilled, I'm afraid, and I doubt the boy is either."

Yoru blinks and sits back. "That seems very... harsh. Almost in line with the teachings of the Immaculates and how they make us out to be."

Yasutora says "No. He was never corrupt or sensuous. He hated all of his companions -for- it-- knowing only purity of the self, though. And harsheness is his way"

"Lines are simple," Green Cove allows, a touch grudgingly. "Even small children can mind sturdily-built lines when they're not able to fish with spears. There are likely hooks available on this ship, and suitable lines. It should be entirely simple to construct a few appropriate lures, though I know what ocean fish bite at better than the lures for river fish. It may take some few trials to determine what will work best."

Yoru hrms softly. "Is there anything you can do to control these... flashes back to your former self?"

<<OOC>> Green Cove is vaguely reassured that GC is actually into crafting.

<<OOC>> Green Cove says "I mean, crafting for fishing, but it works."

Yasutora says "I try. But he is strong in my Shard, and I must fight against him whenever he rises. My will against his Essence."

Yoru is silent for a moment and sips on his drink. "This is something we should look into, for it is not a good thing. Perhaps there is a way to keep the worst of it affecting you. Hm, maybe we will be lucky and find help for you as well in the workshop." He smiles in what he hopes will be a comforting manner.

<<OOC>> Yoru says "Of course, comfort coming from a Disturbing guy... well, take it for what it's worth."

<<OOC>> Leti says "Congratulations, Yoru, now that Mommy's sick, you're a single dad. ;p"

<<OOC>> Green Cove points and laughs.

<<OOC>> Yoru says "Hey, don't make me turn to drinking! Oh wait, too late."

"I'd appreciate any help you could give," Allen says, smiling earnestly now. "The boy - I need to learn his name. Simply calling him "the boy" isn't very polite - looks like he could use some good meals."

Yasutora rubs the back of his head and gives a hesitant smile back. "Do you really think so?" he asks, a little desperation rising in his quick tone.

Yoru smiles again. "They say it was an age of wonders, who know what we will find in the shop of someone who made them."

<<OOC>> Leti says "Wonderful fish."

<<OOC>> Leti says "You're forgetting this was GC's lab. Maybe she was just as pointlessly obssessed then! ;)"

Yasutora smiles a bit at Yoru-- more than before. "It is indeed a hopefuly time!" he declares, pounding the table with one oversized fist.

<<OOC>> Leti says "The table is, fortunately sturdily made, though it creaks where it's bolted to the floor."

Yoru grasps the table and looks at the big guy, "I don't think Shai would care very much if you destroyed her tables," he says with a grin.

<<OOC>> Leti says "Trying to make Yasutora cry, huh?"

Yasutora... winces. "I didn't mean to! It was just... I... " He hangs his head in shame.

Yoru throws a small roll at Yasutora. "You, boy, need to learn how to take a joke."

"Names are useful," Green Cove agrees. "If the materials are available, I will give basic fishing instruction as needed." She begins patting through the inner pockets of her coat. "I ought to make proper lures. If I'm bound to be this far from the ocean for long, I ought to learn what sorts of things river fish will bite at."

Yasutora looks sheepish and mock-ows as the roll bops off his head. "I, um... am sorry?" he asks hopefully?

The boy that Allen and Green Cove are talking about, at this point, makes a quiet entrance into the galley, looking around nervously. He's carrying an empty pitcher under one arm.

Yoru spies the boy they met at another time and grins. "Maybe we need to get you a playmate," he says jokingly to Yasutora, nodding towards the boy in question.

Yasutora gets a mental ... oh... no and tries to ... how can he disg... ahah. The universal solution. FOOD! He begins to eat rapidly, burying his face in his food.

<<OOC>> Leti notes that the boy didn't see Yasutora's face?

Yoru waves at the boy and his empty pitcher. It may be construed as inviting him over, maybe not. To Yasutora he says softly, "You need to relax a little more. You do have the power to handle most anything that comes at you after all."

There is no instant jolt of recognition or really anything else as the boy looks around the room. He does - sort of - approach the table - and says, "I'm sorry, but can you tell me where I can fill the pitcher with water?"

Yasutora mumbles into his food. Something about not feeling comfortable and mm, food things to eat look here wonderful food.

Yasutora is looking embarrassedly into his food.

<<OOC>> Leti notes that there is generally a barrel of drinking water over ...there. Yes.

Yoru smiles at the boy, but once again he is Disturbing. "Before I help you, would you do me the honor of telling me your name?"

<<OOC>> Leti says "Giving off those 'creepy uncle' vibes, huh?"

<<OOC>> Leti says "...You know, I really should have named this character. :p"

<<OOC>> Leti says "Sometimes before now."

The boy's eyes widen slightly as he looks at Yoru to answer. It's hard to tell if it's recognition or just general wariness of Yoru's ...untrustworthy appearance. "Rhan, sir. Please, can you tell me where the fresh water is kept?" He doesn't come any closer to the table where the two solars are.

Yoru continues to smile at the boy. "Rhan. Nice strong name. It is nice to meet you. And the water is over there." He gestures towards the barrel used for drinking water. "Feel free to stop by and chat with us if Nai Kan ever lets you loose. All work and no play make for a dull day."

Yasutora inwardly winces again. Not outwardly this time, though, still has food so all is good. He mumbles something incoherent, trying to keep his voice indistinct and gestures in the direction of the drinking barrel before giving Yoru such a LOOK.

Allen nods. "Thank you, Green Cove." He looks back at Shai. "I hope that the passenger Nai Kan cannot see what I see, or should he insist on seeing the captain, we could have difficulties."

The boy eyes Yoru dubiously and heads for the water barrel with mumbled thanks. "I'm supposed to stay out of the way of the sailors," he says as he heads back for the door.

<<OOC>> Leti says "Hey, he IS a Fire Aspect. If he makes trouble, he COULD cause a lot of damage ot the boat before you all pulp him. :p"

<<OOC>> Yasutora ;_;

<<OOC>> Leti says "He also has a ton of health levels. :p Ask Yasutora."

Yoru calls out after the retreating boy, "But my friend and I here are just passengers." He shrugs and looks at Yasutora. "I swear, as a street kid I at least had fun now and then."

Green Cove follows Allen's gaze to the captain. "It would be inconvenient to have to kill him," she agrees. "Though interesting."

Yasutora sighs and pokes Yoru grumpily. "Leave'im'lone!" he says and gives Yoru what he HOPES is a Stern Look.

Yoru chuckles softly and nods. "Okay okay. Just trying to make sure our journey is... interesting."

<<OOC>> Leti cackles at the parallel between Yoru and GC's speech.

<<OOC>> Leti says "Okay... Anyone have any further plans for the day, anyone else they want to poke out or experiments they want to try on Shai? I suggest we leave the one with warm water alone. :p"

<<OOC>> Yoru laughs.

<<OOC>> Green Cove snickers. "GC will put together a few shiny fishing lures, but no other plans from me. She's maintaining a firm line about the whole brain surgery on friends thing."

<<OOC>> Yasutora is going to pray, but that's about it.

<<OOC>> Yoru will likely go back to meditating now, unless there are books to study on board.

<<OOC>> Allen is going to watch GC make lures? XD

<<OOC>> Leti says "There are books of maps and current charts for the western isles primarily in the captain's cabin. OTherwise, nothing much."

<<OOC>> Leti says "Out oc curiosity, give me a dex+Craft roll for the lure makin. Craft or survival, whichever is higher."

<<OOC>> Green Cove helpfully offers to make a Craft roll if necessary!

<<OOC>> Green Cove hees.

<<DICE>> Green Cove rolls 8 dice: <1 3 5 7 7 8 8 10> for 6 successes.

<<OOC>> Yasutora laughs.

<<OOC>> Green Cove says "(The fish fling themselves up out of the water just to get close to those lures...)"

<<OOC>> Yoru would've died laughing if she botched.

<<OOC>> Leti says "Is that Survival or Craft?"

<<OOC>> Green Cove says "Survival."

<<OOC>> Green Cove ponders buying up Craft, after this session. GC's becoming more interested in building things since hearing about her workshop.

<<OOC>> Leti says "Just for fun, give me a dex+craft roll, too. :)"

<<DICE>> Green Cove rolls 7 dice: <1 5 8 8 8 8 9> for 5 successes.

<<OOC>> Green Cove takes a bow.

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "... You really are the twilight, aren't you?"

<<OOC>> Green Cove smugs.

<<OOC>> Yoru says "So are those good enough to catch a Water DB, or maybe a water elemental."

<<OOC>> Leti says "Okay. Not only are they spectacularly shiny, and fascinating to fish, they're pretty enough to be sold as jewelry. It's amazing what you can do with some bits of canvas and scraps of metal and wood."

<<OOC>> Green Cove is just that good.

<<OOC>> Yasutora |Suzuriki, Dragon of the River, comes out from below the ship and says, "Exthuth ME. Get thith thing out of my lipth NOW.

<<OOC>> Green Cove giggles.

<<OOC>> Leti giggles.

<<OOC>> Leti says "But he'll forgive you if you let him keep it to hang on his wall. :p"

<<OOC>> Green Cove does the happy Twilight dance.

<<OOC>> Yoru chuckles.

<<OOC>> Leti says "Fishhook earrings? O_o"

<<OOC>> Leti says "ANYHOW."

<<OOC>> Leti says "It's been a couple hours; there's been very little sign of the boy or the DB; Shai still shows no signs of stirring. It's dinner time, and the increasingly anxious crew (worried about their captain) seems to have put extra effort into it, perhaps in an effort ot butter you all up so you'll help Shai. Unless someone is deliberately avoiding it, they'd have tried to wrangle you all down to the galley at once. :p"

<<OOC>> Allen says "Food is a never avoid."

Green Cove heads down to the galley for dinner, and a thorough river-fish critique as needed. And will be bringing Floating Leaf along with her, unless someone makes a sincere effort to talk her out of this beforehand.

Yasutorais, of course, not willing to forgo food. He is even eager, having determined NOT to look strange or weird in front of the boy or the dragonblooded. Well. Stranger. Weirder. You know what he means!

Allen is quite happy to be wrangled to dinner, oh yes. Though watching GC's skilled creation of the lures was definitely fascinating, food trumps, and anyways, she's after food as well, so there's definitely no competition; Allen heads to the galley.

Yoru ends up being herded to dinner by a sailor since he wasn't exactly hungry. He will try and get a seat across from Green Cove if he can, waiting until she has arrived if he must.

Green Cove is happy to be seated wherever someone directs her, so long as Floating Leaf is seated beside her. Or, well, at her feet. However the tiger prefers.

Leti [to Yoru]: No effort is being made to seat you anywhere in particular, just get you there and make sure you have plenty to eat. :p So it shouldnt' be hard to seat yourself across from GC.

<<OOC>> Leti says "And as for Leaf, the sailors have had PLENTY of time to get used to the tiger."

<<OOC>> Leti says "She hasn't eaten any of them yet, and you can count that they made sure to have food for her too. =P"

Yasutora sits nearest to the kitchen. :P Wants FOOD.

<<OOC>> Leti says "No one seems to have invited the DB. :p"

<<OOC>> Leti says "Or the kid."

Yoru manages to settle himself across from Green Cove then, and making sure not to accidentally kick Floating Leaf under the table, asks, "How are things going?"

"I made fish hooks," Green Cove says. She's quiet for a moment, and then remembers the whole manners thing she's been trying to work on, adding, "And for you?"

Yasutora looks over at Allen. "Allen... what are we going to -do-? "

The sailors are not well-versed in fine dining; they don't keep you waiting, or serve thigns in stages; the table is soon crowded with lots of food, and the Circle will be aware of most the sailors not actively needed to run the ship at the moment watching you from their bunk area - attached to and only curtained off from the galley. Enough of them, it seems, that the ship is probably running on a bare skeleton crew. Jay, at least, currently in charge of the sailors as Shai's out, is not present encouraging them - though it seems likely he permitted - or was unable to prevent - this. The food is, however, good.

Yoru smiles charmingly (he hopes) at Green Cove. "I am doing well. Why were you making fish hooks? Or for who?"

Allen takes a bite before answering Yasutora, chews and swallows. "What we can," he says after a moment. "Shai is one of our own; and I can't help but feel responsibility, even were she not our sister." He pauses and tilts his head. "Or did you mean about the passengers?"

Green Cove sets one of the lures, tied neatly to a fish hook, on the table between them. "Allen wants to feed the boy," she says, between neat little bites. For all her lack of social graces, Green Cove does have good table manners when she bothers to use them. "So he's teaching him to fish. Spear fishing would be better, but that can't be done from a moving ship, so it'll have to be lines."

Yasutora inhales a bit of his dinner and then replies, "Both," he says with a sigh. "I think Yoru," he says grumpily, "Has scared the boy; though I think I was being similarly foolish," he admits. "I do not understand how to deal with this closeness with those who would kill us."

<<OOC>> Yasutora says 'the boy', implying that he, yasutora, is an adult. *nods* Very much an adult. In charge! Yes.

Yoru glances over at Allen and hrms. "I see. That is a good way to pass the time I suppose. Wait, which boy to you mean?" he asks, glancing over at Yasutora.

<<OOC>> Leti notes that the boy MIGHT be older than Yasutora, depending on how malnourished he actually is. :p

Yasutora grumpily says to Yoru, "At our last meeting, Yoru-- you were frightening him!"

"We will simply have to look . . . as ordinary as possible," Allen says, smiling wryly. "Something I am not sure any of us but Shai were very good at." He nods to Yoru. "Yes, I asked her to help me with that - the boy is plainly underfed, and there's no sense to that remaining the case, not with a river under us, and any amount of free time until we reach their destination."

<<OOC>> Leti awws at Allen. So compassionate. :)

Yasutora relaxes somewhat. "Allen, you will see to him? I am worried, now-- as to whether or not he was always serving this Nai Kan-- or what, if not, this Nai Kan means to do."

Yoru blinks as Yasutora addresses him. "Huh? I was just asking his name." His head swivels between Green Cove and Allen next. "You mean Rhan, the Dragonblood's follower, yes? He is the one you'll be teaching to fish, right?"

Yasutora grumbles quietly, "You were pushing him too much, and he did not know us." He turns back to listen to Allen and Green Cove.

"Everyone ought to learn to fish," Green Cove says, slipping a tidbit of her own fish under the table to complement Leaf's meal. "Though it really is better with a spear than a line, when possible."

Yoru blinks, "Which is why I asked for his name. He should've heard mine when I talked to Nai Kan when they first came on board." Shrugging he picks at his food while the others talk.

Yasutora patpats Yoru gently on the shoulder, all forgiven abruptly. "It is in how you said it, my brother. I fear I did no better myself-- I was hiding from him as best I could." Speaking of. Yasutora recalls that there is FOOD here. It is time to do a service to the cooks and cleaners and make sure there is -no- food left soon.

Green Cove looks up from her fish to Yoru. "Do you know how to fish?" she asks.

Yoru shakes his head at Green Cove. "I didn't have time to fish as a kid, nor much opportunity. I'd not be against you teaching me however."

"The next time we're stopped, I can show you how to use a spear for it," Green Cove says. She stabs at the fish on her plate. "A line's well enough if it's all you can manage, but the spear's better." She considers the bite of fish. "I may need to find more tools to craft a spearhead properly. The barbs need to be positioned in the right places. Maybe there'll be a forge at the workshop."

The galley and crew quarters are towards the bow-end of the ship, open to the rest of the ship. The passageway it opens on to leads towards the aft and is flanked on both sides by cargo compartments. It spreads wide at the back before the three passenger cabins. There is a hatch at either end of the passageway that leads back up, and another hatch in each of the cargo compartments down to the lower holds. The fore hatch and stairs - nearest the galley - rattle and thump as it is flung open and the stairs are charged down by Nai Kan. He stops, sees you all in the galley, and bulls in, looking angry. "Do you know the state the captain is in?"

Shortly after Nai Kan lands in the hallway, Jay follows him down, looking yet more worried. Poor little mortal. :p

Green Cove looks up from her fish. "Why," she asks, "has it changed?"

Yoru sighs softly as Nai Kan intrudes on what was shaping up to be a nice meal. He glances at the others and then up at the Dragonblood and just nods.

Allen looks up as well, and nods slightly. "I'm afraid so," he says quietly.

<<OOC>> Leti says "This poor DB has no idea how close to Death he stands, does he? :p"

Yasutora clenches the edge of the table and restrains his temper; it's caused enough trouble. He gives Nai Kan a glower, full of anger, frustration, and more than a little fear, but says nothing.

<<OOC>> Yoru says "Not a clue."

<<OOC>> Green Cove cheerfuls. Not at all. "...he probably hasn't seen Leaf under the table yet either, has he?"

<<OOC>> Leti says "No, probably not. Though someone may have warned him about the tiger at some point."

The Dragon-blooded Exalt restrains his temper visibly (perhaps remembering that flames are undesireable on a wooden boat), moving in to the galley. "She's out. Won't wake up at all. The crew says they don't know what's wrong with her but they're going on to Great Forks anyhow. We're about to sail through pirate infested stretches of the river and the captain isn't competent to coordinate defense with."

Green Cove reaches under the table to scratch Floating Leaf. "Everyone needs a break now and then," she says.

Yoru speaks up, barring anyone stopping him. "We did not think there would be any help back in Nexus. Not after that display in the sky. Anything strange would be looked at suspiciously whether it was related to that or not. We hope there will be help in Great Forks."

"Then I imagine that if any pirates attack, we will have to take care of them without her," Allen says mildly. "The first mate of the ship doubtless can handle any necessary maneuvers." He looks away again to eat, deliberately calm. "Unfortunately, her coma is not likely to improve if we only fret more."

Green Cove looks up at the Dragon-blooded. "Do you think the pirates are likely to arrive before breakfast? If so, I should warn Leaf not to spoil her appetite now."

Yasutora slowly backs down and away from the worry and rage, watching Nai Kan closely before saying, "We are her friends, and yes, well aware of the problem. It is not something that is easy to speak of with strangers."

<<OOC>> Yoru feels like a Balseraph for some reason right now.

<<OOC>> Green Cove also loves that we're apparently all giving our own takes on what's going on with /no coordination at all/.

<<OOC>> Green Cove says "(Consistent cover stories? Whazzat?)"

<<OOC>> Leti says "It's very amusing. :p"

<<OOC>> Yasutora is FOURTEEN. What do you want from him? ;_;

<<OOC>> Yoru thinks the stories are complimentary.

<<OOC>> Green Cove says "Hey, it'd be more suspicious if we all said the same thing... right?"

The Fire-Aspect puts his hands on the table by Green Cove's place, leaning forward over the table a bit. "Friends? Not passengers?" He shakes his head, dismissing the distinction as unimportant. "I dislike throwing my weight around," he says, "but with the captain incompetent for who knows how long, I'm going to have to take charge as regards any attacks," he says. "Coordination is vital in crowded quarters like boats." He nods grumpily to Jay, who's got a mildly panicked expression. "I will have to trust the mate is competent to manage the steerage." He doesn't wait for any responses - dissent or assent - from the four of you. "Besides the young lady, are any of you trained in combat?"

<<OOC>> Leti is waaay too amused by the situation.

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "Are you -trying- to get me to Zenith at him? :P"

<<OOC>> Leti says "It had to be done! :p"

<<OOC>> Green Cove snickers. "...and you know, given that he's already acknowledged GC as having combat training, she's not even likely to object. Shai's unconscious, this guy seems to know what he's doing, what's not to like about him taking over temporarily? It's not like she followed orders from the previous captain either when it didn't suit her..."

<<OOC>> Leti says "Well, he saw GC practicing! He'd have to be stupid not to recognize it as real skill!"

<<OOC>> Green Cove nods!

Yoru, being across from Green Cove and therefore near the looming Fire-Aspect, looks towards Yasutora as if asking, 'Can I kill him now? Please?' He glances back at Nai Kan and shrugs a bit. "I know how to handle myself in a fight. You run into a few scuffles here and there wandering around like I do."

Allen lifts his eyebrows, but doesn't argue - and eyes Yasutora like he'll kick the Zenith under the table if there is an outburst from that party. "I am not unskilled," he says. "I have fought in skirmishes before, in the North, and I am still here, am I not?"

<<OOC>> Yoru says "Oh good, help him pinpoint you a little more. :p"

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "Allen, I'm going to run my pose by you, and see if there's anywhere you need to kick me during."

Green Cove continues eating her fish, serenely.

Yasutora gives the Fire Aspect a narrow look. His voice slows and grows angry, yet serious-- the petulance and confusion of his youth melting away as he locks gazes with the Fire Aspect. "It is not necessarily a truth that you will take charge, Blood of Dragons or not." His concentration is disturbed when Allen kicks him in the ankle, but he grimaces slightly (will rub the ankle later-- Dawn anklekicking SMARTS) before finishing his attempt to make clear his position to the Flameblooded. "The river is not the place for fire's mind. We are competent at what we do-- and well used to working together, not at another's behest."

<<OOC>> Leti says "Well used to? :p"

<<OOC>> Yasutora glosses somewhat in the name of stunting. We've fought together before!

<<OOC>> Leti gives that two dice and demands a Cha+Presence roll.

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "If I spend a willpower to channel conviction on this, can I get it back from the stunt?"

<<OOC>> Leti says "You're back up into the -0 health levels, aren't you? *grumble*"

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "Also, watch me totally get 2 successes or something. :P"

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "Yup!"

<<OOC>> Leti says "Okay. >_< I'll let you channel conviction and regain. I am such a pushover."

<<OOC>> Yoru eyes Brewing Venom Technique and if he can get it yet.

<<DICE>> Yasutora rolls 12 dice: <1 2 3 3 5 6 7 8 8 8 8 8> for 6 successes.

<<OOC>> Green Cove says "(Meanwhile, GC is wondering if you could toss a Fire-aspect onto a pirate ship to set it on fire. Sort of like a catapult with flaming boulders!)"

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "Not too shabby-- dead average in fact."

<<OOC>> Yasutora laughs.

<<OOC>> Leti wants a private exalted die roller, darn it.

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "Roll IRL dice?"

<<DICE>> Leti rolls 7 dice: <1 4 5 5 6 7 9> for 2 successes.

<<DICE>> Leti rolls 6 dice: <3 3 4 6 6 10> for 2 successes.

<<OOC>> Leti ponders.

<<DICE>> Leti rolls 6 dice: <1 2 5 6 8 10> for 3 successes.

<<OOC>> Yasutora o.o

<<OOC>> Leti says "They're not all what you think they are. :p"

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "GMs rolling multiple dice pools is never a good thing, though. :P Scary!"

<<OOC>> Leti says "Don't you trust me?"

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "Totally. Which is why I'm afraid. ;)"

<<OOC>> Leti says "What exactly were you trying to do with the roll? :p"

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "Get his respect-- to make him treat us as equals, rather than totally assuming he could walk all over us."

Nai Kan's eyes flick to Yasutora. "I seem to have forgotten to bring along my brothers with the aspect of the water dragon," he says, almost mildly, with just the faintest edge of "if you think you can do better" to his tone. He follows that with pacifying words, however. "I am not asking you to march as a unit under my command, of course - I left the military long ago and good riddance - but to coordinate with my plans. If the four of you are accustomed to fighting together, so much the better," he says, "but I would ask if you are as accustomed to fighting alongside an Exalt. I do not want to launch an attack and find that one of your friends has wandered where I thought there were only pirates, too late to pull the blow. I do not want to have to pull the blow, if I do have time, and give enemies the chance to take the ship. Surely you will agree coordination is a good thing?"

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "I can answer that question honestly with a yes! ... whether or not I -_should_-..."

<<OOC>> Yoru says "Aw come on, please let me kill him! ;)"

Yoru eyes Yasutora and waits for the boy to answer. Not only has he grabbed Nai Kan's attention, he dug this pit so let's see him get out of it.

<<OOC>> Leti says "So, kids, do you know how to fight on the side of an Exalt? *hides*"

<<OOC>> Green Cove says "Well, let's see. We all attack randomly, and generally just manage to not hit each other..."

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "Have we ever actually tried planning?"

<<OOC>> Yasutora suspects we should at some point.

<<OOC>> Yoru says "wasn't there that one time when we said, "Hey, kill that." ?"

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "THat's more of a PLN."

<<OOC>> Green Cove is good with the 'kill that'.

<<OOC>> Green Cove says "We...interact when fighting, sometimes! I believe someone once threw GC a rope to get back on the ship after she went water-walking..."

<<OOC>> Green Cove is sort of dreading the inevitable pirate attack, in a looking forward to it way. Because four Solars fighting anything are going to be...discreet. Yeah.

<<OOC>> Allen says "Hey, most of us manage to avoid using peripheral."

<<OOC>> Allen ;)

<<OOC>> Yoru says "Most... 0=)"

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "That's going to make what I'm going to say to the guy evne more funny..."

<<OOC>> Green Cove wasn't thinking of 'glowing' so much as...well, we could just all claim to be exceptionally talented mortals.

<<OOC>> Yoru, Mr You-Can't-See-Me, may find that hard to justify.

<<OOC>> Leti says "You certainly could. :p"

<<OOC>> Green Cove is not sure how talented mortals have to be in order to walk on water.

<<OOC>> Leti says "Obviously he just missed you in the thick of the battle? :p"

<<OOC>> Green Cove says "But at least on the Solar artifact, GC can quite honestly say she found it somewhere and started using it as a good weapon since!"

Yasutora considers Nai Kan's words, leaving his eyes fixed on the dragon-blooded. "That seems fair," he replies. "Coordination is one of the Sixty Four Ways of the Superior Soldier. We are aware of the difficulties of fighting alongside one of the Children of the Dragons-- but are you, Son of Flame, aware of the dangers should your own Exalted soul flare too brilliantly upon the wooden deck?"

<<OOC>> Green Cove has a sudden hilarious image of all the Solars trying to convince the DB that, for the safety of the ship, he should relax below-decks with a cool drink and a good book while they do the fighting, to avoid potential fire problems.

The Dragon-blooded laughs at that. "Is that what's worrying you? I hope I've outgrown the kind of childish overexertion that would set the ship on fire." He pauses. "Now, if the pirates have a ship as opposed to attacking from land and small boats, I make no promises there."

<<OOC>> Yasutora laughs.

Yoru does manage to chuckle at that, breaking his silence.

Green Cove peers up at the man. "I don't think we have a catapult," she says. "Pity. That could have been an interesting route of attack."

<<OOC>> Green Cove says "...what? She likes the idea of tossing flaming DBs through the air. It sounds like fun!"

<<OOC>> Yoru can jump on that idea.

Yasutora 's seriousness is broekn by an immense smile at Green Cove, breaking into a small laugh of his own. "I suspect we are of accord," he says politely to Nai Kan. "In what way should we then plan to coordinate in case of attack?"

<<OOC>> Green Cove says "Now, the real question is, can we build a catapult suitable in size for hurling DBs through the air before the pirates attack?"

<<OOC>> Yoru says "We might have to go with just a giant slingshot."

<<OOC>> Green Cove wonders where we'll find enough rubber.

"Ship to ship weapons would be useful," Nai Kan says, giving the tiny Twilight a slightly baffled look as he misses her meaning, perhaps a bit too aware of his own dignity to imagine being launched through the air as a missile weapon. He nods to Yasutora. "From what I have been told about these pirates, their numbers are such that it would be more in our interest to try to find and eliminate their leader than to try to bull through and endure the attack; attrition would wear us down. Better to hold the ship against them until their leader can be neutralized and then cow them. I intend to take the offensive - a held position on the deck would serve none of us well, as sooner or later they'd likely push me far enough that my fire would become a danger. However, the ship must be held safely or the whole exercise is pointless."

<<OOC>> Yoru says "Gee, how about I sneak in, kill the dude, and come back?"

<<OOC>> Leti snrks.

<<OOC>> Leti says "You could surely beat him to it... >_>"

<<OOC>> Yoru says "And he talks as if numbers are a problem?"

<<OOC>> Leti says "He IS only dragon-blooded!"

<<OOC>> Leti says "You all should let him meet TRW. ;p"

<<OOC>> Leti says "Then he'd feel more confidant about your chances against the pirates! Two DBs is better than one, right? *hides*"

<<OOC>> Yoru wonders if TRW would tell Nai Kan to run while he can.

<<OOC>> Green Cove bwahahahas.

<<OOC>> Leti says "I think Yasutora ordered TRW not to talk to him at all."

<<OOC>> Leti says "Which could be equally awkward."

<<OOC>> Leti says ""Hail fellow DB." "Not allowed to talk to you, sorry." Though TRW doesn't have so much breeding or power as to be so obvious."

<<OOC>> Yasutora will wait on the reactions of everyone else before talking.

Green Cove looks mildly enthused at this talk of tactics. "We leave the crew here to defend the ship, and move onto the pirate ship to take it and kill the leader? It seems like a sufficiently good plan."

Yoru hrms softly. "There is a chance I could slip in to take care of the captain of the pirates if we found him before battle was raging about us. Before I wandered I did have some skills at not being seen." He grins sheepishly. "But lets not talk about the past."

Allen shakes his head. "I am best at offense," he admits. "But I could hold the deck, I think, if I had to." He grins at Yoru. "But such a past sounds so interesting, my friend."

Yasutora cracks his knuckles quietly and considers this. "I fight with a shield and little else," ignoring the huge size of that lie, "And I believe I could work on holding our ship while those who wish to do so make the advance party? I suspect that Green Cove and Floating Leaf would most prefer t--" he chuckles, nodding as Green Cove volunteers first, followed by, well, everyone.

Yoru grins and winks at Allen. "Another time perhaps."

<<OOC>> Leti says "Shield and little else, huh? :p"

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "The Unyielding Bastion isn't a weapon!"

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "... muchh. >_>"

<<OOC>> Leti says "It is, however, a little more than a shield."

<<OOC>> Yasutora says "Okay, true. >_>"

<<OOC>> Green Cove says "Compared to some things, the Unyielding Bastion is little?"

<<OOC>> Leti says "What, a warstrider? :p"

<<OOC>> Green Cove says "War elephants, battalions, fortified villages..."

<<OOC>> Yoru says "That giant flying mecha in the South."

<<OOC>> Green Cove says "See? Small, compared to that."

<<OOC>> Yasutora ;_;

<<OOC>> Yasutora isn't going to be allowed to use it anyway, soooo... :P

Nai Kan shakes his head ruefully at Yoru. "As elegant and neat as such a solution sounds, I fear it would be suicide for you, and would require us to know before we are attacked. Better a live defender on the deck that a dead body on the bank somewhere." He blinks at Green Cove again, not yet used to the feeling of bogglement that always comes from talking to her. "I rather meant to find and kill the chieftain myself, while you and your friends defended the ship." To Allen and Yasutora, he simply nods.

Green Cove tilts her head to one side. "I'm hardly going to stay on this ship to defend if there's a whole ship of pirates in front of us," she says. "That would be boring."

Yoru shrugs. "I agree it would require foreknowledge, which is a big problem. But if the situation presents itself I do offer such services. Otherwise I will be content to help defend the ship should the need arise."

<<OOC>> Allen returns.

<<OOC>> Green Cove thinks GC is a little too much in the habit of simply wandering off to another island whenever she gets too obvious. Subtlety...is not her thing.

<<OOC>> Green Cove says "As opposed to Yoru, who's just nicely set up an excuse for the DB to go somewhere else, and then he can nip off, whack the leader, return to the ship, and never be noticed as gone."

<<OOC>> Yoru whistles innocently.

<<OOC>> Yasutora is not sure what to say, so waits for Allen.

Nai Kan shakes his head again, at Green Cove, looking concerned and mildly annoyed. "You do seem very talented," he says, "I saw you practicing on the deck earlier. But the last ship taken by these pirates was out of Lookshy, and should not have been defenseless. What I know of their tactics says that they would have tried to last out the waves and were overrun, making that a bad tactic. But it also indicates that these pirates can defeat those with personal skill in arms, and that would likely be better for you and the sailors to present a unified defense than to charge every which way." He tries to be tactful, anyhow.

<<OOC>> Leti says "Though one suspects that tact is going to go straight over GC's head and she'd ignore him if she DID get it. :p"

Yoru taps Nai Kan's arm and leans closer to him. "Don't mind her too much, she's just a bit... odd."

Green Cove stares at Nai Kan for a moment. Looks at the sailors in the room. Looks back to the Dragon-blooded. "I'm not part of the crew. I don't present a unified front with them. Floating Leaf can watch my back, as she has before." She smiles, faintly. "I've only had a ship burnt out from under me by pirates once, and they went down too. The next time, they won't be so lucky. I'm better prepared."

Yasutora listens quietly, returning the nod before getting back to the serious business of Eating-- unless something ELSE goes wrong. >_>

Nai Kan looks at Green Cove for a long moment, and finally shrugs. "I may not be able to help you if you get into trouble," he says, "but perhaps an additional distraction would help the over all strategy." He glances at the table and Yasutora hungrily eating. "I suppose I should leave you to your meal now. Pardon me." He straightens up, removing his hands from the table finally.

Yasutora considers this for a moment, and, caution screaming at him, decides to be hospitable. "Have you eaten yet?" he inquires. "Perhaps you could join us."

Yoru glances between Yasutora and Nai Kan at this unexpected development.

"And the boy, also?" Allen adds, glancing up. "He certainly seemed as though he could use more solid meals, poor child."

<<OOC>> Allen calls the boy a child, nevermind they're possibly the same age, ha ha.

"I had told the captain that we would bring our own food onboard," Nai Kan says, "but I expect the rations will get tiresome before we reach Great Forks, so I doubt either of us would object to a hot meal." He nods to Yasutora and Allen. "If there's food enough for us. I warn you the lad has an appetite."

Yasutora smiles happily, and sets aside some of his food as well. "I can sympathize!" he says cheerfully. "There is plenty of space at the table and food for all."

Yoru smiles and glances at Yasutora but is beaten to the punch by the Zenith himself.

"If he did not have an appetite," Allen says with a smile, "I would recommend a doctor."

Green Cove is quietly finishing off her fish. It's river fish, but good nonetheless.

<<OOC>> Leti says "Shall we pause here, with the eating?"
