Wow. Okay, so the first day of the tryout went pretty good.
Basically, what it is that two days a week, I'd be running prepress for the local newspaper, while the normal prepress guy gets a weekend. This is what the tryout's for. The other four days a week would just be IT support, which, despite making up the bulk of the job, isn't quite so unique-stuff intensive. Because of training me and computer problems and stuff, things ran late, and I left about 1:45.
Which is when I realized I had a problem. By sheer luck, I'd chosen a spot they put this ...thing... behind while loading newspapers into delivery people's cars.
If I'd been in any other spot in the lot I could have gotten out, but as it was, I waited almost 2 hours to get out of the lot, getting home just before 4am.
Call it a learning experience.
Anyhow, today I go in at 4. Hopefully things will go much smoother when I go to come home.
