The good and the bad....
Dec. 4th, 2004 09:42 pmThe good: I was given a new motherboard/processor/memory combo as an early Christmas gift.
The bad: On getting it installed and booting it up, I found my pre-existing video card no longer works.
The good: I still have a computer.
The bad: It's a AMD K6 500, with 64 megs of RAM and an 8 meg onboard video card, using shared memory.
The good: I think I got the motherboard installed correctly and it works.
The bad: I can't actually TEST this until I manage to find a video card that works somewhere; meanwhile the warranty will expire.
I should have just asked for money. I could have used money. I have lots of things to pay for. Like travel. Now I have a motherboard that will sit and get obsolete until I can afford a video card. Then the motherboard will prove not to work, and the video card will get obsolete...
Some days, you just can't win.
