Or, I dunno, keep the pages looking like they currently do, but when you click on a parent comment, you can get taken to a page where all the responses are unfolded. (So this post might have a comment from Beth, a comment from me, and then just text-links, but the 'thread' link would never include text-links when you click it. Or would have the option. Or something.)
