...see, I didn't even know I got my own subdomain. (I do? What is a subdomain, anyway? How do I tell I have it? What do I do with it?) I bought a paid account back when they had server issues and put posting limits on free accounts, and renewed it because I liked the additional icon space, and then paid for more icon space...
I suspect having a paid account has something to do with my having all that space for pictures on the scrapbook, too, but I really couldn't say. It's all about the icons for me.
