I hate Humanity....
Jun. 19th, 2004 08:37 pmOtherwise known as the story of how Leti spent her Saturday.
This will be a long post, I suppose, because there were lots of Things, but first the basics:
Leti stayed up all night, because she was going to her mother's college graduation ceremony in Seattle, and had to leave the house at 5am.
Now, the Leti has been in the habit of getting to /sleep/ shortly after 3am, and short naps do Not Do Well. In fact, Leti gets rather ill from them. Like nausea, and migraine headaches, and fun stuff. So the Leti just stayed up instead. Can sleep tonight. WILL sleep tonight, probably crashing by 10.
Mom received her Bachelor of Arts in Education. She's now a certified teacher. This is long overdue; she first attended college classes in 1970 in California. She graduated from high school in 1968. I'm very proud of my mother, and despite the fact that she worked full time during almost all of her full time education (barring only the student teaching, which was pass-fail), she received Presidential Honors for a very high GPA. It is true that she never would have gotten it without my patient assistance on innumerable papers. My mother dear is a very smart woman, but she does not handle words gracefully. Her spelling and grammar are atrocious, though she's gotten better under my heavy-handed corrections over the past four years. For additional understanding, the sister referenced is not Harle, but rather my 17 year old sort of foster sister from Kenya. (My parents have power of attorney for her parents in issues dealing with her, and she lives with us, because her parents moved and she wanted to finish school here.) She can be a sweet enough girl, but she's sort of preppy and silly at times, not to mention wasteful and occasionally greedy without realizing how she affects others. I'm working on her.
It was a nice enough ceremony, I suppose, but...
( To the family behind me... )
( To the late arrivals... )
( To the people talking on their cell phones while the children's choir was singing... )
( To the people that left early... )
( To the people that can't follow simple directions... )
( To everyone that couldn't be bothered to give the graduates a standing ovation... )
( To everyone else... )
Ok, now that the human hating is out of the way...
( I hate the weather! )
Now it's only about seventy degrees. I am in shorts and a t-shirt. I am home, and I have privacy and lack of annoying humanity, and even though I'm still tired, my back hurts, and my feet are sort of puffy, I have had an ice cream bar and when I crash, I can crash onto a cool waterbed after a cool shower and be comfy.
